My approach

What therapy looks like here

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), I was primarily trained in psychodynamic and relational therapy, and I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches including mindfulness-based therapy, narrative therapy, family systems, and attachment theory. I'm also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) for trauma work, and I'm currently completing specialized training in maternal mental health through Postpartum Support International.

How I work
My style is direct, genuine, empathic, and intuitive.

In session, I strive to provide a different experience for you, one where you are truly heard and given honest reflection and insight. We focus on increased self-awareness, breaking old patterns, and learning new ways of relating. My hope is to give you a safe, non-judgmental space to discuss whatever you wish to bring in.

I believe that family history and early trauma play a significant role in the challenges we face. But rather than only focusing on the past, I help you move forward by exploring how to do things differently in the present with the information that we uncover.

I believe that all of our issues tend to be connected, and I welcome all parts of you that may come forward in the process of therapy.

I continue to be inspired by—and trained by—my heroes in the therapeutic community: Esther Perel, Terry Real, Brené Brown, Carl Jung, Carl Rogers, and Irving Yalom.

The relational approach
For many of my clients who didn't have reliable or emotionally attuned attachment figures growing up, there's a bit of re-parenting that happens in our work together. Some people might not even know what a healthy relationship feels like. Our therapeutic relationship becomes a place to experience and practice what genuine connection can be.

I invite feedback and exploration of any feelings—positive or negative—that come up in our work together. This kind of openness is part of the healing, and our honest, ongoing relationship is what allows us to go deep and create real, lasting change.

I welcome individuals and couples of all races, ethnicities, genders, and sexual orientations.
